This sounds like something which should be incredibly difficult. Actually, it’s not. All you have to do is append the custom post type to the URL:
http://www.yoursite.com/feed/?post_type=book
Then you can add a custom taxonomy to it too.
http://www.yoursite.com/feed/?post_type=book&genre=romance
